Stepping up his attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta alleged on Thursday that the ruling dispensation indulged in “corruption” worth crores in the last 10 years.
Castigating the AAP government for indulging in corruption on such a large scale, he said, “Now, its ship is sinking.”

Referring to the forthcoming Assembly elections in Delhi, Gupta asserted that this would be the last election of the AAP marking the party’s exit from Delhi’s political landscape forever.
Taking a jibe at former Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal for taking support of the parties, including Samajwadi Party (SP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC), for the upcoming polls, the leader of the Opposition said, “Kejriwal has no choice but to rely on parties with no footing in Delhi. He has been forced to seek support from the parties that lack any significant presence in Delhi.”
“Kejriwal’s desperation is evident from the fact that he did not decline the support of Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee’s parties. Instead, he quietly accepted their backing to conceal his fear,” he said.
On the prespects of the AAP chief in the assembly elections, Gupta said, “The reality is that Kejriwal fully understands now that winning the New Delhi Assembly seat is nearly impossible for him. On one side, he is challenged by BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, son of former chief minister Sahib Singh Verma. On the other, Sandeep Dikshit, son of former chief minister Sheila Dikshit, is contesting from Congress. In such a scenario, Kejriwal feels extremely demoralised.”
The leader of the Opposition claimed that Kejriwal has already sensed defeat in the New Delhi constituency and is planning to contest from another seat as a backup, so that he could retain his stature by winning elsewhere even if he loses his current seat.
